About Carmen Rene

Small town girl, Carmen Rene, moved to Los Angeles, California in 2006. Fresh out of high school, with dreams of becoming a Buyer and taking the fashion industry by storm, she pursued a degree in Fashion Marketing from Woodbury University. Upon graduation, she began her 5-year career in the hospitality industry at the University of Southern California. It was during this time that Carmen realized that her true passion went beyond working in fashion or hospitality, she wanted to challenge our notion of beauty and empower woman around the world to feel beautiful in their own skin.

Born with primary lymphedema, a rare, long-term condition where excess fluid collects in tissues causing swelling in the legs and feet, Carmen wanted to share her own experiences and insecurities on her path to self-acceptance and self-love.

As her confidence grew, she began to understand that each of us is unique and it’s that uniqueness that makes worthy of loving ourselves and being loved. In 2017, she created @EatTheCakeToo on Instagram. Her honest, fearless, and thought-provoking posts challenging the unrealistic standards of beauty and breaking the stereotypes surrounding fat bodies struck a chord with men and women across the globe.

Her dedication to helping others on their own journey to body acceptance remains unwavered. Carmen is strong, confident, charismatic, and a driven self-loving warrior and she is just getting started.
